I am a local Chicago handyman and home repair professional serving the Northwest neighborhoods including Ukrainian Village, Wicker Park, Bucktown, Lincoln Park, Lakeview and more. My business, Chi-Guy Home Improvement, is a registered and insured LLC that is licensed by the City of Chicago for residential home repair. Primarily helping homeowners with their small repairs and updates, I also enjoy assisting fellow DIY’ers with their projects.
I of course can’t do everything, nobody can, but I will at the very least be honest and point you in the right direction. So if you need any help around the house just remember…
Growing up with an unrelenting curiosity of how things work I have always tried to fix or customize things myself before hiring someone or purchasing something. For this I blame my father whose famous words when asked for help were always… “What would you do if I wasn’t here?” As a kid this frustrated me, however as an adult it became my Super Power. - Thanks Dad, kinda :)
My problem solving curiosity (or curse) has been a common thread that has helped me traverse a range of careers; from graphic design, to software development, to management/leadership and now home improvement.
Pivoting to a career in home improvement didn’t happen overnight. I realized after years of DIY’ing my way through many personal home repairs, which required countless hours of research and a seemingly endless amount of tools, that I really enjoyed the work (and the tools). It again tapped into that problem solving part of me. So, after inevitably getting laid off from the software world, I decided to go all in and pursue this newly realized passion!
I value relationships above all. Focusing on customer relationships has been a definitive factor in building my brand. I strive for clear and consistent communication while actively listening to customers concerns. Coming from a background in software leadership I bring a similar incremental approach which helps ensure my customers are well informed, and understand, every step of the process. People simply want someone they feel comfortable with when hiring for their home repair needs and I find this approach helps establish me as that someone.
